Chalet Rumdoodle

Very nice breakfast which was included in the price. Helpful friendly owners. We had a family room with twin beds on a mezzanine floor, double bed, shared balcony, and nice shower room. Great view. Slightly tricky stairs/ladder to the mezzanine and it wasn't that easy to keep the upstairs cool. The chalet wasn't that easy to find in the first place- google maps placed it slightly wrong - but once found it was a great location 5 mins from shops etc. We arrived early and the owner let us into our room early which was really helpful.

In booking a room, communication with Sarah, the host, was challenging - long response time and often no response at all for extended periods of time. Having first made a booking for the summer of 2020, which was then carried over due to the pandemic, I was suppose to stay at the chalet during July 2023. This never materialised due to extensive delays in Sarah’s response to emails and Whatsapp messages. After another long delay in her communication, the undertook to refund my deposit previously paid as I had no other option but to search for and book alternative accomodation in Pralognan. After I shared my banking details with her, she stopped responding to the Whatsapp messages (by that time I have given up on using email as she simply did not reply) and I lost a substantial amount of money as a result of this. Based on my experience with Sarah, I will definitely NOT recommend Chalet Rum Doodle to anyone.

We booked a night before our trek in the Vanoise National Park. Everything went well with the reservation. Unfortunately, my partner was injured and had to have surgery before leaving. He was therefore no longer able to leave. We notified the hosts, and we have not heard back. I followed up by email but still nothing, the least we could do is keep us informed of the good reception, and a gesture would have been appreciated given the circumstances and the notice period.
