A heartfelt stop on the Salaria We stopped at Tenuta San Giovanni almost by chance—my husband, my baby, and I—and found ourselves in an authentic corner of Italy, where everything smells of home. The welcome was one of old-world kindness: the staff who served us were attentive, smiling, and genuine. And then the food…what a marvel! I don't know if my mother was cooking, but those fried dishes took us straight back to the Christmas Eves of my childhood: golden, light, and full of love. The homemade spaghetti with fresh mushrooms and truffles was simply perfect, enveloping and fragrant. And what can I say about the bread and tozzetti, also homemade: fragrant, crumbly, and irresistible? The house wine is clear, sincere, like someone who pours it with a smile. If you're passing through the Salaria, before reaching Rieti on your way from Rome (or vice versa), stop here: you'll feel pampered and will return to your car with a full heart and a big smile. Bravo!

An evening to forget Uncooked bread, like the packaged bread from the supermarket, industrially packaged potatoes, inedible meat, spaghetti with truffle sauce passed off as truffle, thawed and poorly cooked porcini mushrooms, slimy and melted. Those who eat at a restaurant have certain expectations regarding the quality of the food: In a fast food restaurant, you don't expect fresh, high-quality food and there's little to complain about. At an agritourism restaurant, it's different; you expect superior quality. Respect the local area and the agritourism label you claim, and above all, your customers.
