Stayed in this hotel for one night for my birthday, didn't really feel like staying in a hotel though as our room was in a cottage just outside the hotel in the courtyard. The rooms were clean but quite small. The reason we booked this hotel was for the 'spa' I use the term spa loosely as it was anything but relaxing, it was very busy, very loud and not enough chairs for people to sit on, there was definitely no relaxing there. We went out of the hotel for food to a nearby Indian restaurant that was recommended by the hotel, my recommendation is that you don't go there either! Overall the hotel was okay, the rooms were decent, the spa was not, the location wasn't great as in it takes you 15mins to actually walk out of the hotel property before you reach the road. For the cost I wouldn't stay there again, but I guess your paying for the name with a place like this.

The rooms were lovely and the reception and bar staff couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast was fantastic. Had a lakeside view room, very spacious and good value for money. I arrived early on the day of checkin and was allowed access to the spa. Towels were provided and the changing rooms were clean. There was a mother and baby class on for several hours and it did not disrupt use much. Went for lunch in the trophy bar, the staff were really nice and the area was very clean. I had the Poke Bowl, tasty but a LOT of crispy onions and edamame still in the shell (this makes digging the beans out a bit messy), it was a salad bowl and doesn't contain rice. Nice change from normal boring bar food but also pricey at £20 for a bar menu salad.

Wonderful arrival with complimentary bubbles from the very friendly David. The reception, while friendly and welcoming, gave us the wrong menus for dinner that evening (it was a Valentine’s special) meaning that once we sat we had the awkward exchange of deciding against the set menu and leaving to the bar restaurant. The setting is stunning and the building is beautiful. TVs in the bar restaurant for dinner takes away from the ancient charm. This meal also took away a star for us as we waited 40 minutes for our food and when it arrived the order was wrong. Although other tables received complimentary drinks, we felt rather ignored. Free access to the outstanding gym and ok pool/sauna is very nice. Pool area could do with more regular cleaning. Having the fire on in the evening would be a nice touch - few other refreshments and professionalism from the staff would take this to 5 star. Good breakfast. And brilliant manager in there welcoming everyone very personally.
