Guest House Gjelaj

The hosts were incredibly friendly, accommodating and very nice people to be around. The food was very tasty. The setting was incredible. The perfect spot if you’re doing the Teth-Valbonë hike (it cuts off 30mins of hiking). Note you need to do that 30mins of hiking to get to the guest house from the valley base. The road up to the guest house is extremely rough, you need a big four by four to get up it - good ground clearance. There is good parking at the bottom and a car park half way, next to a cafe for those braving the first easier half.

We loved our stay here. The hosts were incredibly gracious and friendly, even though we had a late check in. The food was delicious, especially dinner (breakfast is nice but quite light if you’re hiking). The location is absolutely unbelievable, with beautiful views. Friendly cats, kittens and chickens roam around It’s on the trail to Valbone pass so makes the start of the hike easier. There was some confusing info online about how close you can get in a car. The listing says you can get within 150m of the house in a 4x4 but another couple we met staying there had only been able to make it partway up the track in their 4x4 and then walked the rest of the way. We drove to Theth in a regular car and had to hire a taxi with a very experienced driver to drive us up the track to the house - the alternative is a quite rocky 35-40 min hike uphill. All in all, it’s an unbeatable spot on the side of the mountain in a very beautiful place, and we felt very well taken care of.

We camped here for a night. It costs 10e the tent plus 5e breakfast pp. it is very well located since you don’t have to go all the way down and up again after a long walk from Valbona. The people running this place is very very nice and welcoming. Toilets and showers are very clean. You have free water to fill up your bottles. The views are amazing
