Definitely a timeless vacation. If you take it with the intention of experiencing life in another era, it holds fantastic surprises. Avoid the cold months, including early spring, due to the altitude and the extra cost of heating. There's a fireplace that works very well, but there's not enough firewood. The stove needs fixing, as it uses an old gas cylinder and fitting that releases heat into the atmosphere during use. Hot water is only available in the bathroom, not enough for two consecutive showers. The garden is stunning, perfect for spending hours enjoying the slow passage of time.
