Oliver and Laura are perfect hosts in many ways. Knowledgeable. Very friendly. Great menu & local beer options. Adept at bringing strangers together through conversation and shared experiences. Hospitable in every sense of the word. Rooms were comfortable, water was hot and breakfasts mighty. Usually people travel through on either their penultimate leg of south to north as we did or after their first day north to south. Whichever, Laura & Oliver were there to make you feel so at home. Their pick up and drop off service was also invaluable. Forest View was the only hostel of this type we encountered on our Pennine Way journey and it left us with such fond memories. The 268 miles could definitely accommodate a few more!

The Forest View Walkers Inn is located in an absolutely first class location for those walking the Pennine Way. It is situated at the start of the route's ascent of the Cheviot Hills, so it is an obvious choice. The Inn itself is very nicely maintained, clean and tidy with a warm welcome for its visitors. Real Ale is on tap and food is varied and to a high standard. Showers are good and hot and the rooms warm. Ideal after a hard day on the trail.

I stopped here as part of a bike packing adventure cycling the route of the Pennines. I couldn't have felt more welcomed. Lovely friendly and chatty welcome which remained throughout. The room is basic. It absolutely perfect; cosy, comfy bed, kettle and tea making facilities and plenty spaxs. The private shower was 2 doors down and great. You just have to go and stay!
