Dunard Hostel

You can't beat this place for location and value for money on Barra. It's a 10 minute walk (taking it slow) straight off the ferry from Oban, the Castlebay Hotel is a few minutes away on foot for a nice evening meal, with an accessible entrance round the back. The lights from the ferry illuminate the rooms at the front of the hostel all night - it's a way point for the whole island as a traveller.

We stayed in a private room which was clean. the bathrooms were clean and kitchen was well-maintained. Nice sitting area beautiful view. only downside would be the walls are thin in the private rooms. They also had a place to lick up our bicycles. The 2 hostesses were very helpful, friendly and engaging.

Had a wonderful two nights here. Short walk from the ferry terminal and the bus picks you up right outside to get around the island. The bedroom was clean and cozy; the sitting room had a fireplace, ample seating, and a great view of the water; and the kitchen was well-equipped for cooking! Staff were super friendly, accommodating us for an extra night when the storm cancelled our ferry, and the whole place had a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere!
