This cannot actually be a 4 star hotel!?!? They do have a brilliant photographer for their marketing photos. Front desk staff were the most frustrating people to deal with all weekend. I was somehow charged a 'dinner included' rate for my stay. At check in I told them I wouldn't be eating dinner at the hotel but they refused to refund the nightly dinner cost. Additionally, one morning I inquired about their Urchig restaurant and was told it wasn't possible to eat there because it was fully booked that night. Thus I ate dinner somewhere else, get back to the hotel by 9pm, and the restaurant is EMPTY!!! I asked a waitor if they were completely full until 9, and he admitted to me they had plenty of space. Also who hard closes a restaurant at 9pm on a Saturday night? The housekeeping staff were very polite and professional. My room was very spacious. Location is ok, and the room had a decent view. However it was dated with a cheapish unhomey feeling to it; and the safe wouldn't lock. Also, the outlet and lamps are oddly installed over the edge of each twin bed; effectively removing several inches of usability on either side. The pool area is loud and full of splashing young kids. So maybe great if you're bringing children; not great for adults trying to relax.

I’ll start out with the positives. The hotel has a good location, very central in Engelberg. It has a direct bus shuttle to the cable car station, which is great for skiers/snowboarders. The view from my hotel room was very pretty, angled towards the mountains. However, the rooms were way too hot with no option to turn down the heat, the bathrooms looked not that nice for a 4-star hotel, and the pool was smaller than expected. The spa is quite tiny and includes two saunas, which say they are 60 and 90 degrees celsius respectively but they did not feel that hot inside. But the spa staff was very nice and friendly and kind, always wanted to help. The room size was okay, and they have a balcony, but that’s about the only good thing I can say about it. Basic things you’d expect even in a budget hotel were missing: no iron, no ironing board, no kettle, and no complimentary tea or coffee in the room. It’s marketed as a four-star hotel because of the pool and spa facilities, but the room itself was more comparable to a two-star property. Be cautious about the rating if you’re not staying in a renovated room. Our room was extremely worn; the finish on the wooden wardrobe doors had deteriorated down to the bare wood. And so was the bathroom door. I regret not taking photos to document it. The breakfast buffet was nice, with a wide range of food options. The hotel’s dinner restaurant however was incredibly busy and fully booked for 3 days in advance, so we could not eat dinner there on any of the nights, which is insane in my opinion. There were screaming children wandering around the entire hotel. When I was coming back to my room after skiing there were two unsupervised children chasing each other and screaming their lungs out on my floor and no one seemed to notice or care about this. Even in the spa we could not fully relax as there were children jumping in the pool and splashing around and screaming the whole time. Overall, definitely not worth the price. You can for sure find a way better hotel even for cheaper.

It took us 30 minutes to complete the check-in process. This is both inefficient and frustrating. However, it seems your staff doesn't care if they keep the guests waiting while the due process is completed. We were not given warm water even after requesting. And even after paying CHF 200 for each room (and we booked 3 rooms), still had to shell out CHF 20 for parking. Your restaurant refused to seat us even when there were seats available. The breakfast is limited and the size of the plates to eat is tiny. Rooms are good. And offer balcony. All in all the staff need to be changed if you want your hotel to run smoothly. You are in hospitality business, you need to be customer oriented. Not sure if it matters and if anybody is listening.
