The Isle of Barra Beach Hotel

I could say so many wonderful things about my stay on the isle of Barra, but the icing on the cake was staying at this hotel. The rooms were clean and equipped with all the necessary comforts, and mine had an ocean view: perfect, especially for a sea lover like me. The food for breakfast and dinner was also truly fresh and tasty. But what really made the difference was the staff. I've never felt so welcomed as I did at this hotel. Joan and the entire crew were simply sublime. Always ready for a chat, with advice on what to visit, always with a genuine kind thought for the guests. Even though I was a solo traveler, I never felt alone. It was truly wonderful. Thank you so much for all your hard work, I hope to have the opportunity to stay at this wonderful hotel again soon, and thank you for making my vacation truly special.

We spent 3 nights relaxing here. Stunning beach views, comfy rooms. Children enjoyed the beach and great walks. Our hosts ensured that we had an enjoyable time and the food was good, given that it must nearly all be brought from the mainland. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

I stopped here for a cup of tea and a cake on the first day of my (hopefully successful) attempt to walk the Hebridean Way. Winds were gusting at 60km an hour and you pay for the gorgeous scenery with bogs that suck you in up to your knees. The glamorous sisters run the hotel - far from spurning my wet feet - welcomed me with the most delicious cake and coffee. And they gave me a hat because I needed one. And some shortbread for snacks. Lovely people, delicious food, unbeatable location.
