Hotel Due Gemelli

I am so sorry that this review has taken 15 years to place as our experience here has stayed fondly in our thoughts for all of that time. We stayed here in June 2009. Four generations of the family absolutely spoiled us. Dad had been a merchant marine. I discovered this bottle of wine that was generously given to us by the family when we departed, that bottle of wine inspired me to search the hotel and the family. We stayed in the hotel multiple times a decade ago, an have always been keen to return. We have very warm memories of the hotel staff and this is also the place where we have tasted the best risotto ai frutti di mare ever. Views are outstanding! The overall cosy, warm and very Italian feeling of the hotel more than makes up for anything that may not quite be up to date, and rather adds a charm. The location that is serene and remote from now overcrowded Cinque Terre sites is also perfect for a balanced experience

The room was well cleaned and very modern which was great. The location from Riomaggiore was quite a hike but they offer amazing views of the ocean. We had to take the bus into the center of town. They also offer breakfast for for 8 euros which is reasonable but we opted to get food somewhere else. The bathroom shower door seal was falling off the door, the water went in and out from hot to cold in the shower, our patio door handle literally fell off, and the maid opened the door on me fresh out of the shower because there was not a Do Not Disturb sign available. The gentleman in the room next door snored so loudly we had to turn in the fan to drowned out the noise do the walls must be pretty thin. All somewhat small items to fix… overall a decent stay.
