Ohana Tarifa

I recently stayed at Ohana Hostel for the second time — and once again, it didn’t disappoint. My first stay was back in November, and I loved it so much that I tried to return in January, only to find they were closed for the low winter season. Luckily, I was able to book a room in late February while passing through Tarifa on my way back to Morocco — and I’m so glad I did. There’s a reason you return to the same place. The staff are genuinely kind and welcoming, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the showers are great (which any traveler can appreciate!). The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the location is perfect — close to the town center and everything you need. It just feels easy staying there. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to whenever I’m in Tarifa.

It’s mainly the people that make this hostel a good experience. It is clean and the guests are really nice. Some of them are kite surfers who originally wanted to stay at Kite Hostel Tarifa, which is closed for the winter. The beds are nicely made and clean. I slept in a top bunk and it was very high without any guard rail, so I was actually afraid of falling during the night. As a hostel in Tarifa, you expect at least a proper space to store your kite gear and hang wetsuits. Unfortunately, the staff’s cleaning room was used for this instead. The common area is very small. The kitchen is inside the same room, and since there are only two hot plates, you have to wait in line to prepare dinner. In the evening, a rather grumpy staff member comes to clean and tells everyone to be quiet from 10 PM. People want to socialize, but there is simply no space for it. A clean hostel with friendly guests, though the facilities and social spaces really need improvement- especially for this price of 20€/night (what’s too much)

Great location, Staff was helpfull and kind. Rooms clean and comfy. Price / quality ratio excellent.
