Gemmi Hotel & Spa

My friends and I stayed here during February half term. A beautiful hotel with such attentive and kind staff. Nothing was too much of an ask. They arranged a transfer from the local train station when we arrived and departed which saved us dragging our bags in the snow. Breakfast served everyday included hot and cold drinks, a wide selection of cold meats, cheeses, yoghurts, bread, pastries and cereals. You could also order omelettes, crepes and a few other things where they would cook it fresh to order. The bedroom was lovely and spacious, decor was modern and clean. Bathroom was spotless and the shower pressure was amazing. Absolutely loved the balcony view (pictured) and the chocolate on the pillow was a lovely touch. The hotel offers a 24/7 spa for its guests, which we used after hiking up Sunnbüel (cable car station 2 mins walk from hotel) and Oeschinensee (a bus leaves from outside the hotel every hour or half hour in the peak season to the cable car station.) There are some lovely places to visit nearby and we feel Kandersteg is a great place to stay as you’re in the quaint Swiss Mountains but can easily visit Bern/Thun/Interlaken/Jungrau/Milan by train (or car), which is what we did during our stay (100% recommend buying a Swiss Rail Pass). We really look forward to staying again and booked our next stay at reception when checking out. If I could score higher than 5 stars I would!

We came for a relaxing minibreak and it was just perfect! The location is amazing as the main village with stores is less than 2 km away, so very close but we were still far enough to be away from the touristic hassle. The hotel is surrounded by the mountains, which can be admired from room windows and balcony. Nothing better than waking up and seeing the snowy Alps. The Sunnbüel cable car is literally 2 minute walk from the hotel, so after spending a wonderful day hiking at the mountains witv breathtaking views, we stepped straight to warm sauna and relaxing whirlpool, which are available for guests at any time of the day. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly, the breakfast had great selection, everything was spotlessly clean, the room was cozy and spacious. We enjoyed our stay so much that we ended up staying an extra night, which the staff was luckily able to arrange without issues. Highly recommend this newly renovated beautiful hotel!

Excellent service, spacious room, the nicest staff. Perfect location for cross country skiing at Sunnbuel.
