If I hadn’t received such a poor customer service response, I would have rated this stay higher. Staying at a bunkhouse for a reasonable price, we didn’t expect much and the facilities themselves are perfectly positioned to make for a great base to explore Pembrokeshire. There were many areas that were uncared for, but being an old property, they were considered some of the charm. The cottage was rough around the edges, but I think sometimes you can take that with a pinch of salt. After getting home from the trip, we were served an email that raised some additional costs that we would be the bearer of. A damaged handrail, Additional cleaning for a dog being upstairs (that we didn’t take). And a smashed window. We were demanded to pay 150% of the cost of the holiday IN ADDITIONAL costs. Refuting these costs, and escalating higher, we were told that the situation had been handled appropriately. There are many outstanding reasons why this property doesn’t meet expectations, and I’ll post a couple of pictures. A fire doors only handle being sheared off and just put back (no latch, and no way to open the door in case of fire), and a ceiling damaged by water that hadn’t been fixed that was a falling hazard for young children. The service received after the holiday has made the entire experience a headache. The front yard of the property was covered in dog excrement, the carpet on the stairs was loose - only fixed in one place. The downstairs bedroom is very humid and only has a small window as ventilation, and the main doors to the property do not provide sufficient safety (having not been taken care of they have either detoriorated due to rotting, or are stiff due to poor maintenance). I would have overlooked these things had we not received outlandish demands for issues at the property.

A lovely property for a base to explore the Pembrokeshire coastline. We loved the open fire and facilities it provided including space for ten guests in five rooms. The kitchen was well equipped and so is the rest of the lodge with plenty of room to cosy up by the open fire on an evening. The local beach of Freshwater West is beautiful with a mixture of pebbles and sand.
