A 400-year-old Black Forest farmhouse in a secluded location, with goats in the barn next door. Heating is provided by a wood-burning stove, and the water is also heated with wood. It's a bit like stepping back in time and exactly what you're looking for. We were there in winter. The wood-burning stove is fascinating: once lit, it warms the living room and the bedroom above. Cold, wet winter clothes dry in no time. And you can even cook a pizza in it :-) The rooms are very noisy – which isn't a problem if you get along well – you're never really alone. If you're looking for privacy and digital entertainment, this is definitely not the place for you. You should also enjoy (and have some skill in) heating with wood (at least in winter). Perfect for families or groups who get along really well! There's also a sauna!

Absolutely idyllic. Blissfully secluded. Plenty to see and do nearby. Perfect for hiking enthusiasts. The goats are in the next room and are magnificent. The house is ideal for those who appreciate this style. Wood-fired heating and hot water. Comfort hasn't been overlooked, however. If you need or want to be connected, this isn't the place. If you want to be completely unreachable, it's perfect.

Relax, unwind, and enjoy nature. It's really easy here! No cell phones, etc. Hiking recommendation: to Todtnauberg and stop at the Waldblick restaurant or the Bergfried Café. Via "Stübenwasen" to "Notschrei" is also a nice short hike. In Kirchzarten, you'll find everything you need when the longing for civilization becomes too great.
