Alagna is another small village deep in an Alpine valley that we visited. At the end of the road begins the mountain path, the gateway to high-altitude life. The village has few inhabitants, yet it is one of the birthplaces of Alpine mountaineering. We stayed here, on a hillside farm, which could accommodate around twelve people—just the right size for the hostess to manage on her own over the years. Her husband and son run the farm, tending to eighty cows and an uncountable variety of chickens and sheep. The hostess and her daughter are responsible for producing delicious dairy products and run a small dairy shop at the foot of the mountain. Everything is handled entirely within the scope of the family's own hands. This hardworking and courageous family has managed to pass down their skills and accumulate wealth through generations. The elderly hostess, with a reserved smile and swift movements, left a deep impression. When bidding us farewell, she blessed us: "Enjoy your life!" The sparkle in her eyes was unforgettable, thanks!

Cosy, traditional. Very nice staff. A bit far from Alagna, steep way up might be a problem in winter.
