Altquhur Byre

Lovely stay at Carolyn’s place for a couple of nights. We were made to feel very welcome and Carolyn had loads of great tips on things to do and see in the local area. The breakfast was fantastic and the room was spotless and very comfortable. This is a great base for hiking in the Loch Lomond area. Highly recommended!

Fantastic find! Two guest rooms, one with two twins, the other a queen. Very comfortable beds with private bathrooms and WONDERFUL showers. My favorite part was how quiet it was at night! So nice. Dinner was homemade pizza, fabulous, and breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Anyone hiking The West Highland Way should definitely try to book a room in this lovely home.

My one-night stay at Altquhur Byre was a true home-away-from-home experience. Everything about the place was welcoming—from the proprietress Carolyn to the family dogs to the cozy atmosphere of the home. My room was spotless and well-appointed, and the en suite bathroom was clean, modern and roomy. At night, my room was quiet and dark, which made for a great night’s sleep. And in the morning, Carolyn made a sumptuous (and filling) full Scottish breakfast with vegetarian options for my diet. Our conversation throughout breakfast just added to the enjoyment of my stay. All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a better first stop on my West Highland Way walk, and I highly recommend Altquhur Byre as a truly top-notch B&B.
