I rarely write reviews. I made the reservation through Booking.com. I booked it because the map showed the location in Altdorf. But when I paid, the exact location appeared, and it was actually 30 minutes away on a mountain overlooking the lake, with a long drive and few amenities nearby. A car is essential. First disappointment. The hotel has stunning views, and the staff provided excellent service. The price was reasonable because we booked the room at the last minute; we were just passing through. The nightmare began at dinner. We booked it because the restaurant looked promising. Nothing could have been further from the truth. I paid €135 for a breaded cutlet and frozen fries. It was completely unprepared, served with a tub of jam and a slice of lemon. My companion ordered a pasta dish with no sauce, which was also unprepared and half-burnt. We shared a salad buffet, mostly from cans. There was no dessert. We also had half a liter of mineral water and half a liter of beer. We paid for a fancy dinner and ended up with McDonald's-style food. A rip-off, in my opinion. I travel a lot for work in Switzerland. Switzerland has a reputation for being expensive, but this is a scam. They need a good chef and a more elaborate menu to justify these prices. Personally, I would stay at the hotel again, but not for dinner. My 6-year-old son cooks much better. We were served by a very friendly waitress, but she was overly intrusive. She interrupted us up to 7 times. I'm not used to that in restaurants, even the most expensive ones. But I think she was just bringing in extra staff that day and doing the best she could. The breakfast was very good, to be fair. If you visit this hotel, please eat dinner beforehand.
