Camping Countryside Retezat

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Camping Countryside Retezat is an amazing place! The service is excellent, and the campsite is very well equipped. The host is flexible, kind, and always ready to help. The showers and toilets are spotless and offer great facilities. A perfect spot for a relaxing and comfortable stay in nature. Highly recommended!

We spent 10 days at Camping Countryside Retezat in August 2025 with our caravan, and the experience exceeded our expectations. The hosts, Anja and Steffen, are extremely welcoming, attentive, and always ready to help with any question or need; communication is excellent, English or German, and even a little bit in Romanian too. The atmosphere in the campsite is relaxing, with the peacefulness typical of the countryside and a wonderful view of the Retezat Mountains. The facilities were impeccable: common areas, kitchen, and bathrooms were always clean and well maintained. I liked the possibility to buy local products from the campsite’s shop – the fresh cheese and milk made for the perfect outdoor breakfast. The parking space for caravans is generous, and the garden and covered relaxation area are ideal at any time of day. The campsite is a great starting point for hiking and exploring the Hațeg Country Geopark. We received detailed recommendations for trails, and Anja helped us discover lesser-known areas of Retezat. The place is suitable for both families and nature and hiking enthusiasts.

This campsite truly ticks all the boxes! Its location is very convenient—just a 10-minute drive from the starting point of all the main hiking. The facilities are all brand new and impeccably clean, which made our stay super comfortable. We especially appreciated the well-equipped kitchen area, which includes a gas stove, sink, small fridge, and all the necessary kitchenware. It's also worth mentioning that there's a small shop and restaurant in the village. All in all, a fantastic experience. Huge thanks to Anja for being such a warm and welcoming host—she really made us feel at home!
