Ponta São Lourenço campsite

We enjoyed this campsite a lot! Pretty small place dedicated for camping, but I liked that it's far away from other roads. Fascinating to look at the island as clouds roll over and also watch the planes above since the airport is close by.

Something beautiful. And on a technical note – as with all campsites in Madeira, online reservations are required at the simplifica website. Theoretically, there are only three tent pitches available at the campsite. I was there in December, completely out of season. When I tried to reserve a spot before arriving, the pitches were booked two months in advance. So I went in with my gear without any reservations, and as a result, I spent the night in four tents, none of which had reservations, and no one showed up with their reservations. That's all for now, and be smart about it. The place is beautiful and worth it even for just one night.

Great campsite, but without water or toilets. You can buy water until 5 pm at the restaurant above, €2 for 500ml; they also have delicious sandwiches there. You can swim at the small beach. In the morning, admire the sunrise. At night, you're only with the other campers; there's no road, no other people, unless someone is out for a night hike.
