A CHF 700 Disappointment: Overpriced and far from "romantic". I wish I could give 3 stars… We spent a total of CHF 700 for a one-night stay (CHF 500 for the room/package, CHF 150 for dinner, and additional drinks/tips). Unfortunately, the experience felt like budget service sold at a luxury price point. The Room & "Romantic" Package The room was very basic and compact; if not for a recent renovation, it wouldn't even reach a 3-star standard. The "Romantic Package" brought the room cost to nearly CHF 500, but the value was simply not there. We received a bottle of Gobillard et Fils champagne (which retails for about CHF 20), a meager fruit basket that I would expect as a standard welcome gift at any 4-star hotel, and seven roses. As a couple, we were given two single beds joined together with an uncomfortable gap in the middle. Even basic tasks were frustrating; for instance, the tea-making setup was so unintuitive that it required reading instructions just to make a cup. The shower was tiny, and essential amenities like an iron or a comb were completely missing. The Spa & Thermal Baths The thermal baths are the key attraction, but there is no exclusive access for hotel guests. It is a public facility, resulting in a "Saturday market" vibe—overcrowded, noisy, and not the cleanest. Instead of a relaxing spa retreat, the experience was overwhelming and disappointing. Service & Logistics The towel situation was unacceptable for a hotel at this price. No towels are provided in the bath area, and with only one towel per person in the room, you are forced to visit reception to ask for a dry one every time you return from a sauna or bath. From positive: food was good, cocktails are nice.

Beautiful, old hotel that is very well-maintained and has modern amenities. Excellent service. Offers very easy access to Lavey les Bains. Photos are views of the valley from a moonlit night. .

We booked a massage at Grand Hôtel des Bains de Lavey on 26.07.2025. While the location was undeniably beautiful and the initial ambiance promising, the overall wellness experience left much to be desired. Despite requesting a deep massage, the pressure remained light throughout, and I felt unheard. The massage room itself was uncomfortably cold understandable given the rainy weather outside, but disappointing for a spa of this caliber not to ensure thermal comfort. My feet and arms remained freezing, making it impossible to relax. Even the masseuse commented on how cold it was. Moreover, the communication barrier made the experience more stressful than soothing. For a renowned destination that attracts international guests, a basic level of English is not just helpful—it’s essential. I found myself confused and unable to express or understand basic instructions, which is not what one expects in a premium wellness setting. In contrast, my parents-in-law had an excellent experience with their respective therapists. They were satisfied and felt well cared for, which only highlights the inconsistency in service quality. As a guest who chose your hotel based on its strong reputation, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. I believe every guest deserves a consistently high-quality standard—especially in wellness services, where comfort, clarity, and customization are key.
