After reading reviews on here I would like to share our experience at the hayloft. And although it was several years ago that we traveled to Switzerland I am still uneasy with our stay. We chose the hayloft because it is the quintessential Swiss setting. It’s beautiful and everything you’d want in a “Swiss” setting. We stayed for a week and traveled around the area. From the get go it wasn’t a comfortable stay. We didn’t get the room we booked, no outside food or drinks. If you wanted a drink even tea or coffee there was a charge. Returning at night we were excommunicated to our room. Honestly we felt like grounded teenagers. The hosts were friendly enough but unless we were talking about their them they seemed disinterested. We’ve stayed in many bnbs and air bnbs throughout Europe and I’d have to say that this one was the most unwelcoming uncomfortable place we’ve stayed. Would we return? Absolutely not. Rules and regulations that we had and have never heard of. Maybe that’s just the way they are. But when you open your home to guests. They need to feel welcome. And we did not get that feeling. Not once in the week we were there. In my honest opinion. It’s a money maker for the hosts. The more they can charge you for the tiniest things. The better off they are. I don’t recommend staying there.

We stayed at this place, and the location of the house was very special—truly beautiful and unique. Peter, the host, was wonderful and extremely helpful; he suggested beautiful places for us to visit, and we are grateful to him. Unfortunately, the experience was no comfortable. The room was very small and could not be locked, which meant there was no privacy. There were strict and unreasonable rules that made the stay feel more like being in a prison, such as not being allowed to eat, drink, or make any noise—even with children. Kerry, the co-host, was by far the worst part of the experience. She only appeared at breakfast, where she would interrogate guests, invade their privacy, and make sarcastic and even racist remarks about their culture. For example, when we warmly invited her to visit our home country, she mockingly replied: “I’m afraid you might cook me there!” and added that she couldn’t live without alcohol because our country doesn’t allow it. Despite this, we remained polite, respected the house rules, and showed no annoyance out of respect for both of them and their age. What truly shocked us was that after we left, she posted an offensive and untrue review about us on Airbnb, claiming she had consulted the police and that we had broken the law and wanted to kick us out, simply because I wore a medical mask! In reality, during our stay she smiled, talked to us endlessly, and never once mentioned reporting us to the authorities. Notice : We did not leave any negative comment about them on Airbnb , simply out of respect. Overall, I cannot recommend staying here. While the place itself is beautiful, the experience with the host was upsetting and disappointing, completely ruining the stay. I would advise anyone considering booking to save their money and look for another place.

Myself and my friend stayed in the Hayloft for three nights at the start of August. We were travelling from France by train to Kanderstag. You can only check in after 4pm. When we got on our finally two trains and had purchased our train tickets. We had a more accurate estimate time of arrival. When I connected to Wi-Fi and was about to email the Hayloft to inform them we would be arriving for 6pm. I had already received a message stating “we are extremely disappointed that you have not informed us on the time of your arrival”. In addition, to our hike the following morning we had purchased a bag of nuts and crips that would be consumed on the hike. They have a rule that no outside food or drink is to be brought onto the premises. However on arrival home one evening, the owner was enjoying a glass of prosecco with the other family that was staying there too. We did not consume the snacks until our hike. Instead of telling us directly they send me another message on air bnb stating the rules about outside food/drink. There was too many rules and regulations which is understandable for air bnbs. However, felt like we were back in school and not on a hiking holiday. It was a beautiful place but overall not a enjoyable experience.
