The absolute best family site! Everything onsite is fabulous, the family bathrooms, great size pitches, play park and the animals and the fabulous Fire and Smoke offering delicious food, with an amazing Sunday lunch! It's all been done with families in mind, but it's just as good if you're visiting without kids, there's plenty of space to enjoy some peace and tranquility. We've just had our 3rd or 4th visit and will continue to return, it really is just ace! The location is perfect, stunning beaches all around with Porthcothan beach a short walk and fairly direct access to the coast path. There are loads of great cafes and restaurants all with in a short drive & the Padstow and Newquay buses stop right outside too.

Lovely location and friendly welcome BUT we received a "pre-arrival" email two weeks before our stay supposedly to tell us everything we could expect. It seems though to be a generic email as it hadn't been updated to alert us to the fact that there were many areas of the site that were out of use / inaccessible due to recent storm damage. The outdoor seating area and animals area was out of use. This wouldn't have been a problem for us as we were only seeking a peaceful weekend getaway. However the construction traffic passing our pitch was unacceptably noisy and they didn't keep to the 5mph limit. There were loose dogs (friendly spaniels) belonging to staff but their mess was not being picked up and we had to watch our step all around our pitch. The dog walk area is described as an off lead area by the lady on reception but it is not enclosed and is certainly not secure for smaller dogs. We had hoped to enjoy the six nations on the big screen TV as it had been advertised on the website but sadly when we arrived the tvs had not been set up and ready for kick off so we missed the first five or so minutes and there were noisy families/children in both sections of the bar/restaurant so nowhere quiet to sit and watch the game. My dog was getting quite stressed with the noise so we decided to retreat to the motorhome which is a shame as we had planned to eat dinner there. We also had to use our phone as a hotspot as there is no TV signal and the site WiFi didn't reach our pitch well enough and it is also switched off at night so something to consider if streaming films etc in the evening . It is a very child friendly place and the bar is open to non-residents. I really would have appreciated the receptionist offering us another pitch away from the works and closer to the only toilet block in use. We didn't ask to be moved as we were only there for a weekend and had set up before it became a noticeable issue. Thankfully we only drove a relatively short distance from home and we made the decision to leave a day early. We were charged £43 per night for a fully serviced hardstanding pitch. There are 3 of these pitches and all on a slope so levelling ramps required. All 3 were in line with a couple of grass pitches squeezed between. We were the only ones there but I would imagine it would be cramped when full. I'm all for supporting the hospitality and leisure industry but we should not have been charged full price and it would have been better for the owners to offer a different date as the site is just not ready to receive paying campsite guests at the moment. It certainly wasn't the relaxing, quiet weekend break we had expected. We won't be returning.

First visit, won’t be the last!! Very tidy, Well maintained campsite with level pitches. None of them seemed to be too far away from the amenities. Lovely and quiet in the evenings. Park and play area was a fantastic safe place for the kids and lots of benches for the adults to sit and watch (with a cider!). The bar and restaurant was great, plenty of seating even in the school holidays. We would highly recommend breakfasts, pizza and farm feast night, the menu was very accommodating for children. Shop was Well stocked with everything you need. The bar had a nice selection of beers and ciders as well as fresh coffee throughout the day. Shower blocks were very clean and the family blocks were very convenient with their own sink and toilet. Loved the dog wash and outdoor wetsuit shower after a day at the nearby beach. See you soon!
