A relatively cheap auberg 1 km from the town centre. Simple friendly family-run place. Rooms and facilities are clean and tidy, if a little sparse (eg. no TV). We had a tiny shared bathroom, which was not great, but the restaurant served nice food and the low-key atmosphere was a pleasure. Breakfast was simple continental style, but set you up for the day. We were given a card for free use of local public transport, and we went everywhere. Fabulous walks. Beautiful alpine villages. The Reichenbach Falls. The Sherlock Holmes museum. Lovely meringues (this is where they were invented). The incredible Aareslucht Gorge. All close by and walkable. We stayed a week. Thanks to Martin and family for looking after us.

We stayed for 5 nights. The location is perfect for exploring central Switzerland - with planty of amazing attractions less than 1hr20min: Jungfraujoch region (Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald..), Lucerne, Titlis, Grimsel pass and Aletsch Arena (in the summer, when mountain passes are open), and even Bern and Zurich. And there are also great attractions right next door - including Aare gorge and Reichenbach falls (which can be seen from the room window). The host is very nice and helpful. Rooms are a bit outdated and small, but well maintained and clean. Price is very reasonable for the region.

Disappointing Breakfast Experience We stayed at the hotel for one night. Our room had a beautiful view of nature and the nearby waterfall, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel manager was also kind and welcoming, which we truly appreciated. In that regard, we have no complaints. However, when a room is advertised as including breakfast, it should be satisfying and thoughtfully prepared. The breakfast was extremely limited. There was only butter, one type of cheese, three types of cold cuts, jam, a few fruit yogurts, and bread. When we asked if there were any eggs, the answer was simply "no." In such a touristic area, at the very least, basic and universal options like eggs or croissants should be offered. These items are inexpensive, but they make a big difference in guest satisfaction. Unfortunately, this was the weakest breakfast we’ve experienced in all our hotel stays so far. We had to stop at the nearest market after check-out just to get something to eat. In the end, we wondered why we paid for breakfast at all.
