Il nido del Gheppio

If there were more stars, Il nido del gheppio would deserve them all! We literally escaped the scorching Salento heat in our campervan to be greeted by the olive groves of a property nestled in the beautiful Apulian countryside, caressed by a cool breeze that was truly refreshing. Il nido del gheppio is a timeless place: the days pass slowly and the surrounding landscape is poetic. You can relax by the pool that blends perfectly with the surrounding environment, listening to the chirping of cicadas, or take a walk in the surrounding countryside, perhaps stealing a ripe fig from the trees lining the narrow streets. In short, our stay was supposed to be a one-night stopover, but we spent four nights in a fabulous place! Cristiano and his wife are fabulous hosts, discreet but always ready to share stories of the place and chat with guests. We used the designated camper space, but the Kestrel Nest has a delightful Lamia (a typical Apulian room) and a Tiny House that we were able to visit, entirely built by Cristiano, with an olive wood floor! Guests have access to a beautiful swimming pool made of local stone (which we loved!), a panoramic terrace surrounded by windows, a washing machine, and beautiful loungers where they can truly enjoy slow-paced living. Cisternino, a wonderful village, is just a 30-minute walk away, or a 10-minute bike ride! We can't wait to go back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We've returned several times in the summer, and we've always felt at home. Relaxing, surrounded by beautiful things, in the excellent company of Cristiano, a host who's always available but discreet. The pool is a real treat, and the veranda with outdoor kitchen where you can relax is a dream. When we can't make it back, we miss it! Highly recommended!

A magnificent place at the edge of time! We stopped with the van only one night, but I wish we could have stayed forever. The energy of the land, the olive trees, and the absolute tranquility gave us the energy to continue our journey. Anna is incredibly kind and makes delicious cakes for breakfast! The view, the hot tub nestled among the olive trees, the authentic trulli, the pear and fig trees, the sweet cat and dog—all these are pluses for this place of peace and harmony!
