Let's be honest - a campsite stands or falls on just four things: Facilities and the way in which it deals with and manages late noise, children and dogs. Things like location and level pitches you generally take into account when booking so you have to take some responsibility for those. In the case of Trelispen, the location is fantastic - short stroll into the beautiful Gorran Haven and the pitches are lovely and flat. The facilities are functional and clean with loads of hot water (no push button every 5 seconds silliness) and even the free use of a washing machine and dryer! Amazing! On the other points, as there's no-one based on site, your enjoyment relies on hopefully having respectful neighbours. Two out of three nights for us were good. On the last night however, we got loud music and van doors sliding open and shut well into the night. I suppose it must be that 'its our first night on holiday so we can do what we like, let's party!' or ' it's our last night so we can do what we like, let's party'. As usual, there were some campers who let their dogs run loose and poo wherever they like - regardless of the fact that children may be sitting making daisy chains there later - often upsetting other dogs minding their own business, tethered to their pitch. We were extremely surprised however, with the large husky who appears on site every evening to do its business - must be from a neighbouring property or the farm but no-one turns up to pick up it's poo. So overall, an amazing campsite spoiled for us by a small minority and a random husky.

I found this campsite after going through a list of local sites based on the location. Many of the larger, commercial sites seemed very strict on arrival times, types of vehicle and so on. This one provided a welcome break from this regimented approach. Although we didn't actually meet Donna, her contac via email was on point and she was very helpful. The site itself is absolutely brilliant. Simple and unassuming. Very relaxed. It's a hilltop location, close to coast paths and Gorran Haven is around a mile away with a small, but good quality range of shops. The bakery element of the convenience store has to be visited. For us, this was just right, facilities had everything we needed. And a decent warm shower. We will be staying here again.

This would have been a five star site, but the facilities let it down. Location was perfect. We could walk to Goran Haven for the beach, fish and chips etc easily. Also a play area not far away. Lots of beautiful beaches within an easy drive. Six year old loved playing with all the children who congregate around the swings. However the toilets and showers weren't properly cleaned. I don't mind basic, but I prefer clean. The free washing machine was an amazing bonus though!
