We had a wonderful stay at The Old Rectory. Michael and Anne were warm and welcoming hosts who made us feel instantly at home. It was my birthday and they made delicious homemade cakes and sang happy birthday, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The house is beautifully furnished with a cosy, homely feel and views of sheep in the fields. Breakfast was excellent, and the location is perfect for exploring Coniston and Ambleside.

Highly recommend this place if you're visiting the Lake District, in particular the Coniston area. We were really impressed with how attentive everyone was. Upon arrival we had been walking all day up Old Man of Coniston and beyond, we were greeted with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. There's great scenery from the back garden, it's very relaxing and very easy to find, just tucked away off the main road. We had a great sunrise from the room and a fantastic breakfast.

It was my first time staying at a B&B, and I had such a wonderful experience. Ann and Michael were incredibly welcoming and genuinely interested in getting to know us. The flapjacks and muffin were a delightful surprise after spending the day out in the wind and rain.
