Acorn Cottage

Good location. The place had everything needed. Kate was a great host upon arrival. Suggested places to visit & lemon drizzle cake was perfect. However after several hours of checking out, we faced a charge of £620 as we did not meet her high expectation of cleaning. She complained of minor things like: - single banana skin without a liner and few things that we may have mixed in the recycle bin although we tried our best. - Not unloading the dishwasher She wanted to charge us £200 and replace the whole oakwood table over a water mark that we were not aware of. She also wanted to take the opportunity to charge us £270 to replace the whole ceramic electric hob for a small chip we made even though there were already two chips made there previously. We were willing to pay for the small chip we made but asking for £270 to replace the whole hob was a bit too much. Another thing that was mentioned for the charge was to repaint the walls behind and sides of the sink because there were water marks. I’d only recommend staying at this cottage if you are only planning to sleep in it.

We visited Acorn cottage following a recommendation from my parents and we weren't disappointed. The location and accommodation is absolutely fantastic and everything is finished to a very high standard. Kate is an amazing host and she clearly cares greatly about the place, the accommodation is spotless! We wouldn't hesitate in recommending Acorn cottage and are very much looking forward to our next visit which we have booked for next year. Thank you Kate.

The greediness of the host completely ruined our stay and we definitely wont be using their service on our next trip to Fort William. Despite the fact that we spent couple of hours cleaning the place, the effort still wasn't enough to satisfy the host and we were given £50 charge for forgetting to empty one bin 😑. We also got blamed for a mark on her oak table which was already there even before we arrived. Finally the icing on the cake was when we received a hefty charge of £270 for few mm chip on her hob (Not to mention, the hob already had far much bigger cracks at two different corners which were covered with duck tape) so literally we were asked to pay for damages done by prior visitors. Nevertheless the treehouse was beautiful. I just hope that the host acknowledges where the concern lies and not repeat the same mistake for visitors who are planning to book the place for their next stay.
