Under the official name of the Pyrenees Defensive Organization, the dictatorship of the caudillo built between 1937 and the mid-fifties a series of bunkers along the mountain range in order to seal the border with the neighboring country against a hypothetical invasion, either by the exiled republicans or the maquis and their allies, after the conclusion of the Civil War.
