Mariners Lodge Bed and Breakfast

One of the best places to stay for friendly hospitality, comfortable room with outstanding views across the Bristol Channel to Wales. Breakfast is quite delicious! What also makes Mariners Lodge such a special place is, Caroline, the owner, who knows so much about Exmoor and everything growing nearby. A walk on the Moor with Caroline as enthusiastic and fascinating guide is unforgettable!

We cannot recommend Mariners Lodge highly enough. We (me, my wife and our cocker spaniel) arrived soaking wet, tired and hungry after a 20 mile hike during storm Babet. We left fully refreshed and dried out the following morning, having enjoyed great company, excellent food and a very comfortable sleep. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed in and felt immediately at home, this is no ordinary B&B. Do not go anywhere else for food once you are there – Caroline is an exceptional chef who easily catered for us (I’m a coeliac and my wife is pescetarian) – great quality food, plenty of it and local produce used too. If we are back in this area this will definitely be the first place we contact to see if accommodation is available. Even after a long days walk it is only with hindsight that we appreciate how fortunate we were to have carried on through Porlock to West Porlock and Mariners Lodge.

We had a great stay at Mariners Lodge! Caroline is a lovely host, who has lots of interesting tips for Porlock and the area around. The evening-meal and the breakfast were fantastic and the view from the rooms over Porlock bay is stunning!
