Hohnstein Castle

This place is gorgeous and there's a bunch of hands-on displays to interact with that are really neat for medieval enthusiasts. This place is very German, so there's zero English support, which is fair; no complaints about that. Still worth the drive.

We visited this castle as a historical object, not a hotel. And it was kind of impressive. All rooms are not available for tourists, but some were. In one chamber there was a historical exposition, and the big tower was opened, so we could enjoy a great view. The castles yard was a nice place to have a rest, and there was also a Cafe with a good connection to Wi-Fi.

Have not stayed at the hotel. You can walk in free of charge, but is is highly worth a donation at the gate. Climb from the town square through the gate to several vantage points with views around the valley. There are bathrooms free of charge, there is a café and you can climb the tower of the fort. Good physical condition is handy.
