Decent enough but a bit pricey

Review of Villa Waldfrieden We spent a total of 8 nights at Villa Waldfrieden and were unfortunately rather disappointed overall – especially considering the expectations one has for a 4-star hotel in this price range. The furnishings and decor of the rooms were not quite up to the standard one would expect. The room was quite small and dark (even during the day, artificial light was necessary). There was no air conditioning – with daytime temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius at night, this was very unpleasant. The room was only cleaned once in 7 days! What exactly was done was unclear – the beds certainly weren't cleaned, and the hand soap wasn't replenished. Furthermore, the drains smelled musty during the first few days. Our request to have the bed linens changed after the hot days was only partially fulfilled – they were only changed on one of the two beds. Another point we found unpleasant: The balcony of our room was also accessible from the hallway, which significantly compromised our privacy. We therefore kept the curtains mostly closed – consequently, it was even darker inside. The hotel's restaurant is very upscale, which was reflected in a very limited menu. The staff were consistently friendly and tried their best to accommodate special requests (child-friendly dishes/allergies). For us adults, the food was very tasty, but we wouldn't recommend the daily dinner there for families with younger children – the hefty prices simply aren't worth it. Breakfast, on the other hand, was very varied and excellent! The hotel is located between a busy road and a railway line – anyone sensitive to noise should keep this in mind when booking. We would like to highlight the location for hiking: Beautiful hiking areas in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains are just a short drive away. Dresden is also easily accessible by car in about an hour. In conclusion: We were thrilled with the Elbe Sandstone Mountains region and will definitely return – however, we won't be booking Villa Waldfrieden again. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio isn't right for us.

A lovely villa where each room is unique. It's connected to a hotel next door where meals and breakfast are served. Guests can also use the sauna for free at another hotel in the same village. The accommodation is pleasant, but the price is a bit high. The breakfast is excellent, with make-your-own omelets and even homemade smoothies. There's an incredible selection of high-quality fruit juices (including cabbage juice 😉). One point for improvement: there's no Wi-Fi in the rooms, and the hotel's Wi-Fi in the restaurant isn't always reliable. Even if you want to disconnect a bit on vacation, it can be a little inconvenient when planning your itinerary. An excellent starting point for some beautiful hikes and via ferrata routes.
