The rooms at this Premier Inn are particularly nice compared to others — and I’ve stayed in quite a few! My evening meal was fine, just as you’d expect. Generous portion sizes! I was served by a very friendly chap called Mash, and he and a young lady named Caitlin made sure I had everything I needed. Great service — thanks, guys! I would definitely stay here again.

When we first arrived, the gentlemen at the desk who checked us in barely spoke to us and had an AirPod in the entire time. Me and my partner wanted to add an extra night to the room we were currently staying in. We called reception and explained, we were told that’s fine, book another night online and they’ll add it to our room and to come down to reception when it’s done. After we booked another night, my partner went to reception. He tried to explain the situation but was cut off by the lady who was very rude and told him that check in was at 12. I called back as I was confused, as we didn’t want to stay in the room until 12 to go down and check in at 12, as we bought the extra night to go out shopping, but we were worried that if we left it any later than 12, they would then let our room. The lady was extremely rude over the phone, I tried to say my partner just went down and was told that we couldn’t add another night until after 12, she butted in and said that’s not what he was told and then continued to repeat exactly what I said in different words, and kept saying check in is at 12. She then said, when I explained we wanted to go out shopping and not stay in the room, we didn’t need to, just to come down before 12 and they’ll note it down and check us in at 12. This left us confused and irritated. She wasn’t willing to listen or explain, she just kept repeating check in is at 12. If she was saying come down again and they’d note it down to check us in at 12, then why could she not have just done that over the phone or while my partner was already down there the first time. The situation made no sense, in the end we stayed in our room until 12 and missed hours of shopping, due to the fear the night wouldn’t be added to our current room and they would let out our room or enter our room with all our belongings inside. What’s worse is my partner believes this was the manager, therefore there seems to be little hope for an improvement in the customer service at this hotel. The lady didn’t inform housekeeping of our extra night and in the end housekeeping tried to enter our room at around 2pm when we were inside, if we hadn’t remembered to lock the door from the inside she would have walked in on us completely, which is exactly what we wanted to avoid and if we weren’t in and did go out shopping she would have access to our belongings. All of this combined just ruined our stay, being spoken to so rudely just made us want to leave so in the end we didn’t stay the extra night and we just went home. There are many other hotels nearby, even other premier inns, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere.
