Hotel und Restaurant Waldeck

Very authentic german restaurant with a beautiful interior. The food is delicious and locally sourced, mostly meat oriented. Among all of our dishes, the ox cheek was the highlight. The service is also good. Though not cheap, the restaurant is definitely worth a visit!

We LOVE the Waldeck and Family Kapferer who operates it. They welcome their guests with warmth and friendliness that is unparalleled and we feel every time at home when we come. The rooms are spacious and very clean and the hotel is quiet and comfortable. The food in the restaurant is high class traditional black Forrest food with a modern twist and a commitment to freshness and taste. The location in Menzenschwand is special and the valley is ready to be explored by hiking, biking and in winter cross country skiing. From the little, tranquil and typical village one can visit St. Blasien - a wonderful Black Forest town with a very special cathedral - and Freiburg, Zürich and Basel. But it’s just enough to come, stay and feel like home away from home!!!

We stayed here from sept 11 untill sept 14 with our 2 dogs. The owners and staff were superfriendly and they really tried, and succeeded, making our stay one of the most special ones yet. Our dogs aren't the most relaxed while being at the restaurant of the hotel. We got the opportunity to eat our dinner at our room, while there is normally no roomservice available, and make dinner enjoyable for us and less stressy for our dogs. On our checkout-day, we left before breakfast officially started to beat the traffic on the way home. The staff made sure we were taken care of and made us a huge packed lunch with alot of sandwiches, fruit and juice. We also got a little gift with some local products to thank us for staying with them. I have been here before, about 20 years ago with my parents and I remembered how friendly the staff is and how good the food is here. I came back and it definitely fulfilled my expectations. I would recommend this hotel to everyone!
