We booked almost one YEAR in advance to reserve our standard king room at CHF334 (about $420) for 2 nights with no breakfast included. Lucky we did because prices only went up after that! We were doing a train Christmas Market tour and this location was EXCELLENT as it was literally smack in the middle of one of the markets in Basel. Another 10 minute walk to the other main market. 10-15 minute walk to the train station, and they are located right by a shopping street with fast food and other distractions. The lobby is active with a nice large bar and lots of seating (unfortunately no real restaurant so those who buy breakfast also sit at random places in the lobby all over the place). After check-in with nice staff, we quickly headed up to our room. The room was clean and basic. The hotel advertises as a 3-star hotel and that felt about right. Literally no coffee or tea kettle or anything in the room for morning drink (also none for free in the lobby either), which is rough and seems a little cheap. Other than that, the shower was hot, the bed was comfortable, and the room was quiet. ALSO as a surprise bonus, they emailed me before arrival to provide me a FREE city transit card good for the entire stay - it is provided by the city but super convenient to receive in advance!! As they say with housing though - location, location, location....and this place has got it!!!

Excellent location! The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of downtown, surrounded by many shops and an amusement park, and just about a 15 minute walk from the river. It’s cozy, warm, and welcoming. The receptionists are excellent, friendly, professional, and very helpful, especially Tamer and Danielle, who went above and beyond to assist us and answer all our questions. Maika, who serves in the lobby, was also very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though the single room is a bit small. My only recommendation would be to add a kettle and preferably a small fridge.

Great location for sightseeing if thats what you're looking for. Nice bar area for evening drinks. Room was a decent size but is functional with no frills: no in-room coffee or tea making, no fridge (a bottle of room temperature water provided with check-in), TV's that show primarily local/national stations (who isn't providing smart TV's these days?) all of which make the hotel feel a bit dated. Having said that, the graffiti style art in the lounge is quite cool, staff were polite and they were able to store our bags for a few hours on the morning of our departure. There was some street noise from the room we stayed in but this is literally in the centre of things.
