STF Abisko Turiststation

We didn’t stay here, but we stopped in for the buffet lunch and a walk around the lake. The lunch was nice and the setting inside was cosy and warm, which was very welcome after being out in the cold. The buffet itself was quite limited, just two main options and no desserts, but the food was good and filling. The lake was completely covered in snow and absolutely beautiful. There are well-marked trails, so it’s easy to explore, and you could easily spend a couple of hours here just enjoying the scenery and the peaceful atmosphere. Even without staying overnight, it’s a lovely place to stop for a bite to eat and a winter walk.

We took the SJ sleeper train from Stockholm Central to Abisko Turiststation and when we arrived the hotel and hostel are situated on the opposite side of the station, 2 min walk, so convenient. The hotel where we stayed had lovely clean and comfortable rooms. The hotel o was very pleasant with lots of cozy seating space and beautiful views to the mountains and lake Tornetrask. Bistro and restaurant served great food with great service from the staff at break, lunch and dinner. Lunch buffet is on another level, absolutely gorgeous. We'll be back at this place

The place itself is so much better than its name! We were initially hesitant to visit because it sounded too touristy, but I am so glad we decided to stop on our way back to Norway.​ It is such a unique place with a wonderful variety of rooms for relaxing and reading. I particularly appreciated the dedicated room for filling flasks and bottles. Despite being busy, the atmosphere remained quiet and relaxed. The restaurant was delicious, and we were impressed by the selection of oil-free, plant-based​ and vegan dishes. The hydroponic glass box ​for growing herbs was also a fantastic touch. Furthermore, the staff were incredibly lively and cheerful. ​We cannot wait to return!
