We had a very comfortable stay at the Rock House during a recent trip to Piacenza. The location is very convenient and a short, walking distance from the main train station and a nearby shopping centre. Our room was very clean, spacious and modern, with a nice view of a leafy nearby park. The bed was one of the most comfortable we slept on during our 5 weeks in Italy. The check in process was clear and straightforward. Communication was clear with hotel staff who were also helpful in responding to any issues/requests. Would recommend The Rock House to anyone visiting Piacenza.

The hotel is situated just a stone throw away from the Piacenza train station. Bus stops are just 1 minute walk away which allow one to get around the city easily. Given that Piacenza is just 45 mins ish by train to Milano Lambrate station, it is a viable option for people who wants to do day trips to Milano. The room has all the essentials. TV (access to local channels), stocked mini-fridge, in-room WiFi access. In terms of bath room, basic toiletries are provided together with hair dryer. Hot water supply for showers are consistent in temperature. Check-in process by using a link in email sent by hotel owner. Point of improvement: would have appreciated more presence of reception staff for addressing questions on getting around the city, suggestions on places of interest to visit and recommendations of restaurants (offering traditional - typical dishes of the region).

We chose this place based on the many 5-star reviews, and honestly, we cannot understand how these rooms — particularly the ones facing the station square along the long hallway — receive such ratings. The room design is a serious issue: bright light shines through the wall at night from the hallway. Not around a door or window — directly through the wall. There are no curtains to block it because what appears to be a wall is actually a window covered with wallpaper. This is not acceptable in a room meant for rest, and it should be clearly disclosed to guests before check-in. I noticed another reviewer mentioned the same problem, and the manager’s response was dismissive, suggesting guests “close the curtains.” There are no curtains on that wall, which makes that response both inaccurate and unhelpful. Noise is another major concern. The walls are not real walls but thin wooden partitions that shake when nearby doors close. Every sound from the hallway or neighboring rooms is easily heard. During our stay, there was stomping and door slamming in the hallway past 1 a.m., making it nearly impossible to sleep. It is very concerning to see management respond defensively to guests who raise legitimate concerns instead of acknowledging the problems and working to improve. We were a work group, all asleep before midnight, so the suggestion that there were complaints about us is simply not true. In summary: The light issue makes these rooms unsuitable for rest. The noise level is excessive. The management’s dismissive attitude toward feedback is disappointing. Guests deserve transparency about these issues before booking. These problems should be disclosed and addressed — not ignored or denied.
