This hotel is located in an amazing spot with breath-taking views. The rooms can use a bit of maintenance, but was clean and tidy. The whole hotel is a bit worn out, but nothing critical. Plus all personnel were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast is ok. Overall, considering the price, location and views I would say it is a very nice place to spend a night or two in between hikes.

Bad hotel honestly. The only thing they have going for them is the location, EXEPT now several hiking trails passing the hotel are closed until unforeseen future (like the trail that would othervise take you to pico grande & ruivo, and the levada trail 200m from the hotel to opposite direction), and ER105 is closed as well limiting your available routes by driving. Rooms are clean, but the food is bad compared to literally everywhere else we've eaten in Madeira. Breakfast coffee machine must run on instant coffee powder or something becouse its practically undrinkable, and you really need the coffee in the morning since you get no sleep here! God knows why theres people stomping, yelling, slamming doors and dragging chairs all night above our rooms for third night in a row! Its not the average guests of this hotel partying, for they are up at sunrise grabbing breakfast in hiking gear, hurrying to get on the trail. Truly miserable place.

We had a really lovely stay at this hotel . We were in beautiful Madeira for the incredible walks and the countryside and this hotel is set in the most amazing scenery - a perfect location if you want to be away from the crowds and are looking to experience this breathtaking island. The staff are great - really friendly and helpful - big shout out to Daniel on reception who went above and beyond to be as helpful as possible! Breakfast and supper are a buffet with a really good range of salads, soup and cooked food - my only criticism as a vegetarian is that they should clearly label the food as I had a couple of near misses with the salads . . Rooms are super clean and comfy, with a balcony with the most outstanding views. Some reviews have talked about the noises from other guests rooms but we heard nothing at all . There is a suite for weddings but they do warn you at reception about this and there was a wedding here while we stayed but it was not all noisy. The only downside is that the bar inexplicably closes at 6.30pm, when you are returning from a brilliant day out and fancy a beer . . I wish they could amend this!! But all in all, the best place to stay on this incredible island as you are located within reach of a lot of great walks.
