Pier Hotel

The overall condition is extremely disappointing, especially for the price. The bathroom had visible black mould everywhere, the toilet was missing a button, and the carpets were dirty, sticky, and stained. The lampshade was stained, other was missing,, the curtains were hanging off their hooks, and the clothes dryer closure was broken, making it unusable. The mattresses on the double beds were very old, pitted, and uncomfortable, it was dirty, and most of the décor looked dated and neglected, aside from a partially updated kitchen. While the bedding itself was clean and the view lovely, the property needs significant maintenance and cleaning to meet reasonable standards. I would not have chosen this accommodation had I known the true condition, as it didn’t reflect the quality or comfort expected for the cost.

I’m only writing this because I wish I had seen something like it before booking here. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, but unfortunately the hotel itself is NOT good. The smell is overwhelming—coming from the restaurant, which I could understand, but it has seeped into the carpets and lingers throughout the entire hotel. The whole place smells like fried food and fish, to the point that we couldn’t even stay the night. We ended up moving to the Portree Hotel instead, and I’m glad we did. Unless you’re prepared to deal with a constant strong smell of fish, I would not recommend this hotel. Given the location, maybe some smell is expected, but this was far more than I anticipated and would not recommend.

No frills hotel right at the Harbour edge. Very loud location with a bar and restaurant downstairs. You can also easily hear you neighbours. Don't recommend staying here if you are looking for quiet and don't like the smell of fish and chips. Large staircase to get upstairs so take note if you have heavy or bulky bags. Basic breakfast.
