The Old Ship Hotel

We came for food and were very impressed. Best chips we’ve had this year - crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Amazing batter on the fish and chips, and onion rings. Huge portion sizes - great value for money. Friendly staff who did wonderfully. Photo of wagyu burger.

Great location with a very handy car park The staff are exceptional with great customer service skills, the breakfast was very nice. The only down side was that we were in Room 15, this room has a lovely size, comfy bed and ensuite but needs some investment due to smelling damp and looking a bit dingy.. My wife says she could smell the damp on her clothes two days later, I suspect the position and elevation of this room my possibly contribute to water ingress/damp conditions but it seriously needs looking into !

Went today for a lovely lunch & being that person who checked the menu ahead, I had my heart set on mussels. However when we got there, I couldn’t find it on the menu! Spoke to the lovely manager who said it had been removed but he would talk to the chef. And ta da. I had some super tasty mussels delivered to my table shortly after. And my toddler who tends to be mega fussy, ate the vast majority of his lunch too. Big big thanks. What a lovely bunch of staff. Thank you ALL.
