Fantastic walk up to High force waterfall. We parked at Bowlees visitors center. Beautiful walk from low force up to High force. The path follows the river. Took us just under an hour to walk. Path is okay in most places, but you do have to climb over a few rocky area's, which isn't to bad in dry weather. Once passed the green bridge, the hill up to high force is very uneven and rocky. As long as you take your time , there's no problem. Once at the viewing point for High force, the waterfall looks incredibly. You do have the option to walk further up , but be careful and stick to the path as , you climb upto the start of the waterfall, and believe me it was very powerful.

Majestic beauty of a waterfall in a great location. Good paths but some difficult steps to access close views from the river edge. Car park and local pub available.

We parked at Bowlees Visitor Centre and followed the path along the river past Low Force and the old swing bridge, then continued up to High Force. It’s about four miles there and back and such a lovely walk with great views all the way. The path can be uneven in places so it’s not really one for pushchairs, but it’s very dog friendly and has lots of spots to stop and enjoy the scenery. High Force is a beautiful sight, especially after heavy rain when the water really thunders down. If you prefer a shorter walk, you can park at High Force Hotel, but there’s an entry fee from that side. The Bowlees route is free, and if you carry on a little further upstream you’ll come across Bleabeck Force too, which is another great waterfall to see.
