Hotel & Chalets Restaurant Schlosswirt

The location of this characterful hotel is beautiful. Unfortunately the food can best be described as below average for the region. The cooking is simple and of cheap quality, i would go as far to say lazy. Breakfast was just as uninspiring, the coffee was tasteless. The service was appalling, the lady waiting on was miserable. we were an inconvenience, how dare we ask for drinks!! On a positive the bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

Unique hotel in a lovely little village in the mountains. Great service, good food, comfy beds and a very authentic typical Austrian atmosphere. The owners are very keen to create a sustainable place. They have a little farm in the backyard, where kids can help feed. Cute place!

My wife and I and our two dogs stayed at Hotel Schlosswirt for a week with breakfast and dinner included (half board). We booked a Junior Suite because we wanted extra space for the dogs. The location worked out really well. Our suite had a private terrace with a nice view northwest to the mountains. We were happy to be outside of Heiligenblut and have more space. The room was much bigger than a typical hotel room. The style is rustic and fits with the hotel feeling and character. It was relaxing and comfortable. Getting half board was our best decision. The breakfast buffet was a perfect way to start the day. Dinner was even better. Every night was something new. The hotel schedules dinner for half board guests so we didn't have to wait. The food was great, starting with a soup, then a starter, the main dish, and ending with a new dessert every night. Everything was fresh, presented beautifully, and home made. After a long day of exploring Grossglockner, getting a home cooked meal without having to make a lot of decisions was great. The family who run Hotel Schlosswirt were very nice and accommodating. Service was friendly and you can tell they work really hard to do a good job. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back next time we're in the Grossglockner area.
