Great place for some lunchtime food.. stopped of for a drink but looked at the menu and decided to have a small nibble. Great chips, bread and oil, olives and Pork Bites. Super friendly service.

My partner and I came here for dinner with his 2 kids. Upon arriving we were pleasantly and warmly greeted by the wonderful server we had all night who we ar every grateful for as the food was definitely as expected. (For reference and in hope he is congratulated for his work, this server had longish blond / very light brown hair and around 6ft or so. Worked at the bar and restaurant). We ordered 3 starters. Bread, olives and the pork belly. The pork belly was very good. No complaints. The bread was decent but could have be warmed and possibly with the option of butter next to the olive oil and the olives... they were just about okay but the kids enjoyed them so that was a win in itself. Now, the mains... We ordered the Apple sausages with mash which was not at all anything to do with apple. The sausages tasted like they had come out of a standard supermarket brand sausage pack and the mash was just about acceptable for a mash. Could have been much cremier and smoother. The gravy, we assume was not home made as it did not have much flavour and did not resemble the colour of home made gravy, instead something more like a watered down Bisto. I ordered a burger and chips . The burger was way too salted and lacked any real burger flavour. Chips were fine. My partners son ordered the chicken nuggets and chips and even mentioned how salty these tasted. We will give the benefit of the doubt as kids can have wavering taste buds. At least the soup was delicious. Very well made though the crouton could have certainly been more freshly made and toasted longer. The wine was very much enjoyed though as was the service by the waiting staff which was why we tipped. With this all said, this is just our opinion and we are aware everyone likes different tastes and flavours. Just not for us. Especially for the price of not far off £100. I hate to leave lesser positive reviews as I know some days can just be bad days for everyone and everywhere but this was really one or the worst meals we had had during our visit and in general eating out.

Stopped here for food after a day out walking, the building is nice, but the pub was cold, I kept my big coat on for the whole duration. The food was OK, bit pricey for the quality and quantity. Halloumi burger was cold in the middle. Table service was very slow despite the pub being very quiet, I had to ask for the menu for pudding, and then never got seen to again! After 30mins of waiting I decided to settle the bill and leave. Would go here for drinks again, but will probably give food a miss. There isn't much choice for vg/v Dog friendly but only in the bar area, so in high season you may struggle to get a space. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
