Kings Arms Otterton

After a nice walk and on recommendation we stopped off for lunch. Menu looked nice beer was fresh and wine choice excellent. We chose off the specials of the day menu. Game stew, Steak and Ale pie and Cod Parmesan. Game stew...rabbit stew really and the dumplings were rock hard. Pie...needed force to break open and very dry inside. Cod..hmmmm...very basic and bland. The fresh seasonal veg of boiled cabbage and green beans...really? There was a definite lack of care and it really seemed like the food had been sitting under lights for a couple of hours before we arrived at 1:30pm. Not in a rush to return and our host who is a local was very disappointed.

I asked to book in our room early as we had somewhere we needed to be, this was accommodated, thank you. Michelle was very welcoming, warm and chatty. Our room was clean and tidy. The breakfast had everything catered for, cereal, yoghurts, you name it, it was there on offer, the full English was delicious although too big for our bellies. We will be back with our dogs again soon, we need to explore the countryside around you.

We ate in here a couple of times and the food was excellent. Sunday roast beef was a serious portion, as was my wife's chicken. Ample veggies and the beef was superbly lean and tasty. Same went for my wife's chicken. Washed down with a few pints of Sharpes fury!
