Height Gate Camping Barn

The most magical place. We had a group of 27 adults join us for a weekend of walks, games, and good food. The barn was the perfect place to host everyone. It is extremely affordable, and also very sustainably heated. The host Jack was lovely and really helpful. I would recommend to anyone looking to host a big group of friends/family 💚

Great value for a big group with children. *Eco credentials are phenomenal and deserve recognition* Great for pets and for humans to have time together outside or in the many communal areas. Loads of space on the huge grounds for kids to be kids and adults to have some space too. Really private place and easy to walk through surrounding fields and up to the pike. Utterly wonderful surroundings. As a nature lover (who was camping outside) seeing mist at sunrise was heavenly. Slightly tight drive up to the barn but it's doable. Multiple cars can park next to/nearby. Inside the rooms, beds, accommodation, I am told was fine though I can't feed back on that personally. Bathrooms were ok. Another shower or two (there is 1) would have been appreciated. Great for affordability and suitability to our needs, but small gripe as the people before us left rubbish, dog poo bags, and unclean water in the mop bucket.

I recently had my 30th birthday celebrations at HG and it was a pretty special weekend! We had 27 people (and 2 dogs!) across the 3 days, which featured a stroll to the Pike, a local fell race, wildswimming, drinking/eating at the pub, marshmallow-roasting round the campfire, giant inflatable Pass the Pigs in the barn, sunset croquet on the 'Croquet Lawn', and fireworks! The kitchen was perfect for cooking up a feast and there was plenty of room for people to spread out. I was worried about having a party in a barn on a hill in Yorkshire in wintry conditions but with the fires on we were super cosy and I spent a lot of the time in a t-shirt! Andy was very helpful in making sure we were comfortable and really helped us get the best out our stay. I can't imagine having my celebrations in a more perfect place, thank you!
