Popped in here for a drink and lunch mid-walk and found the place to be incredibly welcoming and friendly with delicious food. Went back later the same week for a meal and it was spectacular. The wide variety of choices demonstrates an incredibly talented chef and we cannot recommend visiting The Postgate highly enough. Our dog was also made to feel very, very welcome on both visits, with locals having pockets full of dog treats which they were more than willing to share with our boy (and were received by him with much enthusiasm!). Definitely one to save and visit again when we next come to Yorkshire. 10/10 !!

Bar service was excellent. The barman was cheerful and helpful and was the best thing about our visit. Likewise Matthew, the chef was lovely and a bright welcoming presence in the morning. However the dining room in the morning was cold and we needed a coat on. No effort made to have the fire lit. The evening meals were delicious and excellent quality. I think some more simple options could be available though. The bedroom was ok, nothing special. We stayed for two nights. There were insecure electric sockets on the walls. The bathroom had no ventilation. Also, our room was not cleaned, so no new towels were provided. This was a big oversight as we were the only guests at the time. So why wasnt the room cleaned? We would not return and would definitely not recommend this place.

We didn't stay here, do cannot comment on the rooms. We had an evening meal, and the food was fab. We both had the monkfish and scallops dish on the main menu, but could have quite happily tried anything, it all sounded so good. Followed up with the offer of 3 of the puddings between us, again, perfect. I've seen comments that this pub is expensive, I would say it is great value for money. Properly cooked, well planned dishes, with no need to add any extras. Not the average pub food, (which I do also love!) this is more cheffy, in a very good way. Fresh, local ingredients, lots of choice, especially if you love fish. On top of all that, incredibly friendly and welcoming. Oh, and dog friendly as well!
