Corte Del Gallo

Aweful Host I've been traveling for years, but this has to be the most inconsiderate host I've ever encountered I had booked a hotel for three nights. On the first day of my arrival, I had a severe allergic reaction and had to spend hours at a local hospital. I was completely exhausted and didn't make it to the hotel until 11:30 p.m., well past the 9 p.m. "ultimate check-in time." I tried calling the host for hours with no success. A neighbor finally gave me his number, but warned, "I'm not surprised if he doesn't respond to you." When I finally reached him at 12am and explained my situation, he was completely unsympathetic. He refused to help, citing "policy" and making it clear that he couldn't be bothered to get up from his phone to open the door. He then proceeded to cancel my entire reservation (no refunds), leaving me stranded. His complete lack of sympathy and refusal to help a person in need speaks to his character.

My wife and I just returned from 10 days in Italy, and the best three were at Corte del Gallo. Roberto is genuinely warm, welcoming and hospitable. The breakfast was generous and delicious. As soon as we arrived, Roberto was asking us about food preferences (my wife is strictly vegan, I am mostly vegan save for the occasional egg or cheese), and went out of his way to buy soy milk that day for Deana had it for breakfast the following morning. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel is convenient, i.e. within easy walking distance, from the train station. We arrived at Corte del Gallo following three days at a vegan agritourismo in Tuscany that was roughly 3x as expensive, and if we were doing the trip all over, we would have skipped that place and stayed a week longer at Corte del Gallo.

Awesome place, clean and quite. Owners are very friendly and really care about the guest and feeling at home. Great location as well, don’t let you intimidate you the drive down to Corneglia, just take it slow and once at the hotel park for the rest of your stay and get the train to wherever you want. If you come by train, you can walk to the hotel within 2 minutes. Owners are so kind that will help you if need be. Enjoy a awesome breakfast looking out on the ocean.
