We booked and paid for the cabin on booking and the owner told us that he doesn't work with booking and that we have to pay him again for the cabin in cash upon arrival. Insensitivity and lack of respect for customers from the owner. I do not recommend.

[ An English review follows ] I had a great time at Cabana Marinela-Reghina! Since I don't live in Romania, the owner of the business was waiting for me to arrive by train to Deva Train Station. Then, she drove me to the market to buy a hat and some extraordinarily juicy and tasty tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini and peppers. The products were of course grown in the locality, by farmers from the region (some very nice people, with a big heart and soul.) Arriving at the guesthouse, I ate with great gusto the vegetables bought at a very reasonable price, and telemea cheese prepared by the Stefanic house and, of course, their cow. I then appreciated being treated to a tzoi of Rahie prepared by the Stefanic house. During the sunset, I had a great time on their hammock in the backyard, listening to the birds singing and feeling the summer wind blowing through all my hair. The next day, I was driven to the Lolaia Waterfall, in the Retezat National Park. The view is amazing, with the air and water in the area of exceptional quality. It is truly the best water I have ever tasted in my life. It tastes like alkaline mineral water (pH ~ 8-9). I am very satisfied with my trip to this area of Transylvania. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ English Review ] I’ve spent an extraordinary time at Cabana Marinela-Reghina! Since I don’t live in Romania, the owner of the business kindly awaited my arrival at the Deva train station. Then, she drove me by car to the farmer's market, where I was able to buy such a fine sunhat, as well as some extraordinarily succulent tomatoes, cucumbers and red peppers. These were of course grown by some remarkably patient and generous local farmers. Arriving at the pension, I savored those vegetables faster than I even thought was possible. The owner even gave me some of her homemade feta cheese, made with milk coming from her very own cow! I was also offered some unpasteurized milk (refrigerated, of course), again, from the owner's precious cow. You may ask yourself "Geez, why is she making such a big deal out of cow milk?" Well, allow me to explain: unpasteurized milk is illegal where I live (very unfortunate, I know), and I very much enjoyed being able to taste the full spectrum of flavor (and gut medicine) contained in natural, full-fat milk. Later that day, the owner surprised me with another pleasant liquid called 'rahie', a strong homemade liquor with about 50% alcohol content. I took some sips while sitting in the backyard hammock, breathing in the clean mountain air, feeling the cool breeze through my hair, and watching the birds flock peacefully. That evening, I spent some time overseeing a thunderstorm on the cozy balcony, which was decorated with a sturdy table, two comfortable chairs, and homemade wool carpets. The following day, I was brought over to Cascada Lolaia (Lolaia Waterfall), located in Retezat National Park. The view was very comforting, and the water quality exceptional. I would even say that Carpathian waters themselves, alkaline (pH ~ 8-9) and rich in minerals, are worth a whole trip to this region. Since the Carpathians contain some of Europe's last standing virgin forests, their waters are, in my opinion, the best in the world. All in all, I've felt very kindly welcomed and taken care of. To wrap up, I would suggest this hostel to anyone visiting the Hunedoara - Salasu de Sus - Ardeal region of Romania.

They do not honor reservations made and paid on booking. The money was collected and I slept in the car
