Hunters Lodge Caravan and Camping Site

The site was lovely, with a nice big pond & lovely chickens kept on site. They also sell fresh eggs. It was quiet at night and it was a short walk into the nearest town. The showers were £1 to use for 7 minutes, which if it was to save water we thought was okay, however it would have been handy to be told that it only takes pound coins, as people don’t often carry cash on them, and we’d put our pound coins in to get the eggs - which meant another mad dash into town to get more change to shower at night. Overall the site was nice & the person who greeted us was very friendly.

It is a very basic site, which is fine for us. The shower block could do with some updating, but apart from that, it is an excellent site. A short walk into Starcross, which is opposite the railway station, provides train links to Exeter. Beautifully manicured. Perfect hardstanding pitches. They have chickens. 🤪

Such a beautiful campsite. With clean ablutions. Three loos, but only one shower. I was surprised that there’s a charge for the single shower (given the charge per night) costing £1 per 7min. All ablutions are clean and not too far away from the camp site. Lovely well kept grassy lawns and a beautiful view. Sites are spacious and some are adjoining a stream. Unfortunately what would be a wonderful peaceful experience is often interrupted by the loud sound of passing road traffic from the road - where cars / trucks go speeding by. There’s also a train station nearby - and although I never heard the trains, I would often hear the trains “hoot” when passing through the station. Such a pity the noise detracts from what would be an amazing site. The gentleman who greeted us upon entry was friendly and informative.
