Loch Ness - The Lochside Hostel

What impressed us most and best was the easy, kind and open atmosphere created not only by the comfortable, inviting lounge, but primarily by the worldly flair of common acceptance and curiosity among travellers. Conversations began and ended easily, rendering precious parcels of each other's lives and ways. The beds, the rooms, the bathrooms were all clean, spacious and comfortable, with small lamps at each bed and semi-enclosures for privacy. As elderlies, the Allsigh Triangle hike rated easy/moderate was easily/moderately torturous! Still, we loved and survived the climb through forest with multiple waterfalls, coming to the summit and amazing views. We slept very well that night. Lochside Hostel is uniquely open to openness. The kitchen choreography of an evening - with maybe 12 different meals cooking - was fun to watch and participate in. There are pots and pans galore, several stoves and plenty of utensils so everyone had everything they needed. Just GO THERE!

The best kitchen I have ever seen in a hostel, and I have seen a lot. Just look at the spice rack... Showers are power and the beds are comfy. Rooms have cute paintings. Beautiful quiet location on the loch. Staff are very friendly and helpful. You can sit and watch the lake through huge windows in the common area, which has a wood burner, pool table, games, entertainment, etc. If I could give 6 stars I would.

I was not planing on staying in the Hostel, but got persuaded by a friend. When I arrived, a Hurricane hit and there was a power outage. Throughout my stay, staff and Volunteers did all they could to keep moral up. The hostel remained organised and cleaned despite the external difficulties. Looking back my stay in Loch Ness Hostel was probably one of the highlights of my trip. You will meet great people, live right on the lake and, that i am sure of, will have a splendid time.
