First: We paid for a Mountain View but there was a big ugly red crane in the way. When we went to the front desk to ask if we could move rooms to the other side they said no but they have a 300$ extra a night available. Second: “Queen” size bed was actually LITERALLY two twin bed pushed together. My husband was falling through the crack all night. Third: no way to control the temperature in the room. No thermostat. Fourth: Terrible pillows. Two pillows for a “queen” bed and they were flat and old. We had to fold them in half to get some sort of comfort. Do NOT book here. Room was really small which would be fine if we the room was comfortable and the view was great.

Magnificent views from our room which was spacious and clean. Good breakfast with a great range of options and fabulously attentive bar staff, friendly and efficient. Hotel is in a great location too, very walkable to restaurants etc in the main town. All in all 5 star rating for the Sunstar.

I had a great experience. The hotel is very well located, close to all amenities and right in front of the cable cars taking you to the ski slopes. The rooms are clean and very well lit (unlike some where you can't even read). They felt warm and cozy. Also love the fact that you don't need to put your key card in the slot to have light in your room. The only thing missing was extra pillows. The indoor pool is wonderful and has a fantastic view of the snowy mountains, absolutely breathtaking. They have 2 dining rooms, a buffet and a formal dining. You can have a tasty breakfast in the buffet room. The staff were all very nice and friendly. Special thanks to Kitti the barmaid, waitresses Margarida, Barbara, Mara and Carolina, who served us dinner on Christmas eve and Christmas day, wonderful girls. Thank you also to Luís and Daniel for the wonderful breakfast service and Lillie and Dot (apologies I don't know how to spell it) at the front desk. I absolutely recommend this hotel. Although a bit expensive. I will definitely stay there again. Also Grindelwald is a beautiful town, very typical. Top marks.
